Y4 Home Learning 21.05.20

Good morning Year 4. I hope everyone is OK and ready to learn today. It's nearly half term so not long now until you can have a well earned rest.

Maths

This week your maths activities will focus upon telling the time. We will begin by looking at reading a 12 hour clock and looking at o’clock, half past and quarter to/past times, before moving onto reading the time in 5 minute intervals. We will then look at how to convert between 12 hour clocks and 24 hour clocks/analogue and digital clocks.

Today we are going to continue looking at converting time between 12 and 24 hour clocks e.g. 6pm = 18:00 / 8am = 08:00. It’s time to put all of your fantastic learning to the test as you apply your knowledge of converting time to today’s two worksheets. If it helps, copy the clocks into your Maths book! For the second worksheet, copy the table on the sheet into your Maths book and sketch the clocks in the last column!

English

So what has happened to your dragon fruit so far? Has it grown? Has it changed at all? Is it behaving strangely? Well Thomas is in for more adventure in this next chapter – let’s take a read. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvK4PSkDNJU&list=PLd5OvpigUuUH6xXqFd8QfUQdD4RT1uFYr&index=5

As you can see it was not a normal night for Thomas and he got anything but sleep. It was finally the moment he got to meet his baby dragon for the first time. I love how the author has described the event using all her senses so we feel as though we are there with her. So today that’s what I want you to do.

Think about the moment your fruit changed into a dragon.

Notice – What did it look like as it changed into a dragon? What did you see?

Hear – Can you describe some of the noises it made as it changed? What did they remind you of?

Touch – Did you touch the fruit as it changed? What did it feel like? Was it hot or cold?

Make some notes in your English book to help you with your writing tomorrow. You might want to use the subheadings notice, hear and touch to hekp you organise them. Remember just words and phrases are all you need NOT full sentences.

Enjoy your day everyone!

Mrs. Keyte
