Year 1 Home Learning 18.5.20

Morning everybody!

Happy Monday smiley

We hope you had a lovely weekend. Have you had a chance to look at our Phase 2 Newsletter? If you haven't managed to find it, it's under the 'Newsletters' tab on the school homepage. There's some great activities on there, including a 'Guess the Teacher!'. Can you name all of your teachers from their baby pictures?!

Well we've got lots of fantastic home learning tasks this week for you to enjoy:

English

This week, we are going to be focussing on a new story. The Year 1 teachers thought that whilst the weather is warm and mostly sunny, we would look for a story that is set outdoors. So our story this week is called ‘Treasures in the Garden’. When Jake's favourite toy goes missing, it's up to his big sister to help Jake find his toy whilst showing him that the garden is the perfect place for an adventure. Using their imaginations, Jake and Holly visit a pirate ship, dive under the sea, travel to space and meet wizards, fairies and dragons!

Enjoy the story on the PowerPoint below. When you have read the story with your grown up, I would like you to have a go at creating a story map. We have done lots of these in class but just to remind you; a story map is a simple plan of the story using only drawings and captions. The drawings must be in the order that that happen in the story. When you have completed your story map, have a go at retelling the story to your grown and see if you sequenced the events correctly!

Maths

This week, we're going to be looking at how to tell the time to the o'clock and half past. Here is a lovely video for you to watch and enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TA5z_DE204

After you have watched the video, work through the powerpoint with your grown up. Can you go on a time hunt around your house and find all the things that tell the time?

Stay safe and have a brilliant day x
