Year 1 Home Learning 22.5.20

Good morning Year 1!

Well not only is it the end of the week, but would you believe it is the end of half term?! If we were all in school we would be saying goodbye until a week on Wednesday to enjoy our Whit Holiday.

We know how hard you have been working at home and we know things are still very different for everyone at the moment so we want you to take the next week and a half off! You teachers will not be setting tasks for you to do every day because all we want you to do is play, have a good rest and enjoy some reading smiley

We will only be putting our next tasks up when we would've started our new term on Wednesday 3rd June, so the next week and a half is yours to fill as you please.

For today though:

English:

You’ve done lots of writing this week. Well done! We would love to read the adventure you created for Jake and Holly so if you want to, ask your grown up to send them to your teacher at broadoak@sthelens.org.uk

As its Friday and you have done so much amazing writing, I think it’s time to give your hands a little rest! Today’s activity is a lovely reading activity, keeping with the theme of the garden and being outdoors. All you need to do is read the text and answer the questions below it. You may need your grown up to help you as some of the words are quite tricky and can’t be sounded out using your phonics.

When you have finished, the answers are also on the upload so you can play teacher and mark your work!

Maths

This week you have been focussing on telling the time to o'clock and half past. Today's activity is a little game where you are trying to beat your opponent to make it to the end of the board.

You can print the game out below, copy it down onto a piece of paper or you could even lay your screen down and use little pieces of paper as counters. It's up to you! However you play it, just make sure you're having fun! Remember, the short hand points to the hour and the long hand tells you whether it is o'clock or half past!

Have the loveliest half term holiday and we'll be back setting tasks on Wednesday 3rd June!

Take care and stay safe,
