Year 5 Home Learning 22.05.20

Good morning, everyone! Happy Friday! I hope you've all had a lovely week. Next week is our holidays so this will be the last activity until Wednesday 3rd June when the holiday ends. I want you to all enjoy the good weather and relax!

English:

Today in English, I would like you to continue with your lockdown diaries. If you haven't started a lockdown diary yet, I would like you to start one and backdate it a few days detailing what you've been doing!

Maths:

I would like you to find some common factors in maths today. Remember that a factor of a number is any number that multiplied to create another number.

For example: 2 and 4 are both factors of 8 because 2 x 4 = 8. This is called a factor pair.

Common factors are numbers which are both factors of two different numbers. Have a look at the example I've uploaded for this.

I would like you to find common factors for these numbers. Remember every number has at least 2 common factors, 1 and itself! Any number which only has these factors is a prime number. I've done the first one for you.

1. 15 and 18 (Factors of 15 = 1, 3, 5, 15)

                   (Factors of 18 = 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18)

The common factors are 1 and 3 because they are factors of both!

2. 12 and 20

3. 25 and 40

4. 16 and 35

5. 36 and 54

6. 64 and 82

7. 25 and 55

8. 28 and 34
