Hello Y4! Here are this week’s home learning activities:

Monday 12th October

English:

LO: To edit an explanation text.

In this lesson, we will edit the writing we have so far completed for our explanation text. We will focus on both correcting and improving our writing.

Maths:

LO: To find 10, 100 or 1000 more than a given number.

In this lesson, we will be using our place value knowledge to find 10, 100 or 1000 more than a given number and considering how the digits change when we are required to regroup

Task: Complete maths lesson 1 worksheet.

Geography:

LC: How do geographers present their data?

In this lesson we will be learning about how geographers present their data. We will begin by learning about why data presentation is important and then look at how your data could be presented. Finally, you will use what you have learnt to present the data from your fieldwork study.

Tuesday 13th October

English:

LO: To practise and apply knowledge of the suffix: -ic.

In this lesson, we will be practising and applying knowledge of the -ic suffixes

Maths:

LO: To find 10, 100 or 1000 less than a given number.

In this lesson, we will be using our place value knowledge to find 10, 100 or 1000 less than a given number and considering how the digits change when we are required to regroup

Wednesday 14th October

LC: What might a Hindu learn from by celebrating Diwali?

Today is a special day called RE day where will be learning about the story of Rama and Sita and to explore the theme of good overcoming evil – just as light overcomes darkness.

Task 2: Draw a picture of Vishnu.

Thursday 15th October

English:

LO: To plan an explanation text.

In this lesson, we will create a plan for our sections on grinding, mixing and moulding. We will also use our plans to orally practise these sections.

Maths:

LO: Finding the odd one out.

In this lesson, we will be finding the odd one out by using our knowledge of place value and rounding.

LC: What do geographers do with their data?

In this lesson we will be learning about what geographers do with their data. We will begin by drafting an analysis and conclusion of your fieldwork. Finally, we will review as to whether the enquiry question has been answered.

Friday 16th October

English lesson 1:

LO:  To write an explanation text (Part 2).

In this lesson, we will write our sections on grinding and mixing.

Lesson 2:

LO: To write the closing paragraph of an explanation text.

In this lesson we will consider what makes an effective closing paragraph and write our own.

Maths:

Applying and consolidating: Reasoning with 4-digit numbers

In this lesson, we will be applying and consolidating our knowledge of place value and rounding by recapping key learning and applying our learning to answer different questions.

Task: Complete the end of session quiz.
