Monday 21st September

English:

This half term we will be learning how to write an explanation text about the chocolate making process. Yummy!!

LO: To identify the features of an explanation text.

In this lesson, we will explore the layout and language features of explanation texts.

Maths:

This half term we will be learning how to add and subtract numbers.

LO: To understand addition and subtraction facts.

In this lesson, we will be deriving addition and subtraction facts by using part whole models to show how related facts can be derived from scaling up by 10, 100 or 1000. Click on the link below:

Tuesday 22nd September

English:

LO: To investigate the -al suffix

In this lesson, we will be investigating the -al suffix and set spelling words to learn.

Maths:

LO: To use addition and subtraction facts.

In this lesson, we will be deriving addition and subtraction facts by using given calculations, considering how the whole or parts have changed and the impact this has on the new calculation.

Topic- Geography:

This half term we will be learning about maps and fieldwork.

LC: Why do geographers do fieldwork?

In this lesson we will be learning about why geographers do fieldwork. We will begin by learning what fieldwork is and then explore why geographers do fieldwork. Finally, we will learn about the different types of fieldwork that geographers do.

Wednesday 23rd September

English:

LO: To explore pronouns.

In this lesson, we will explore pronouns and possessive pronouns and practise using them correctly.

Maths:

LO: To choose appropriate addition strategies.

In this lesson, we will be looking at addition equations and deciding the best and most efficient strategy we could use to solve them.

Thursday 24th September

English:

LO:  To develop an understanding of the chocolate making process.

In this lesson, we will learn how chocolate is made. We will then summarise each of the four main stages by writing a sentence for each stage.

Maths:

LO: To choose appropriate subtraction strategies.

In this lesson, we will be looking at subtraction equations and deciding the best and most efficient strategy we could use to solve them.

Science:

This half term we will be learning about rocks and the rock cycle.

LC: What is an ecosystem?

In this lesson, we will recap our knowledge of plants, animals and habitats and learn about ecosystems.

Friday 25th September

English:

LO: To develop a rich understanding of words associated with delicious food.

In this lesson, we will introduce new vocabulary, identify word pairs and synonyms and apply the vocabulary in sentences.

Maths:

LO: To use related number facts and appropriate strategies.

In this lesson, we will be applying and consolidating our knowledge of deriving related number facts and most efficient strategies for calculating addition and subtraction equations by recapping key learning and applying our learning to answer different questions.

Topic- Geography:

LC: What enquiries are geographers currently doing?

In this lesson we will be learning about a fieldwork study currently being completed by social geographer Esther Hitchen. We will begin by learning about the purpose of Esther's research and then explore what fieldwork tools Esther used to collect her data.
