Hello Y2! Here are this week’s home learning tasks:

Monday 28th September

English:

LO: To explore how writers make description vivid (read as a writer).

In this lesson, we will learn read and unpick a piece of descriptive writing to explore what writers do to make their description vivid. We will then come up with a list of tools to use in our writing.

Maths:

LO: To add a 1-digit number to a teens number using a known fact

In this lesson you will learn how we can add a teens number using known number bonds.

History:

LC: What was London like at the time of the fire?

In this lesson, we will look at how London developed as an important cultural, economic and political centre through the reign of the Anglo-Saxons, Normans and Tudors.

Task: complete the end of lesson quiz.

Tuesday 29th September

English:

LO: To write a vivid description.

In this lesson, we will take a key scene in the story and write it with a focus on making the description vivid to paint a clear picture for the reader.

Maths:

LO: To subtract a 1-digit number from a teens number using a known fact.

In this lesson you will learn how we can subtract from a teens number using known number bonds.

Task: complete maths lesson 2 worksheet.

Science:

LC: How can the shape of solid objects be changed?

In this lesson, we will be learning about solid objects. You will be investigating how you can change the shape of solid objects using items in your home. You will need a piece of paper, a pencil and some household objects which will be explained in the video.

Wednesday 30th September

English:

LO: To write a vivid description.

In this lesson, we will take another key scene in the story and write it with a focus on making the description vivid to paint a clear picture for the reader.

Maths:

LO: To use the 'Make ten' strategy to add two 1-digit numbers.

In this lesson you will identify expressions that are less than, equal to and greater than 10 and then apply the 'Make ten' strategy to add numbers.

History: The Great Fire of London.

LC: How did the Great Fire of London start?

In this lesson, we will learn about when the Great Fire of London began, looking at where it started and how it quickly spread throughout the city.

Thursday 1st October

English:

Maths:

LO: To use the 'Make ten' strategy to add two 1-digit numbers.

In this lesson you will practise using the 'Make ten' strategy to solve addition equations.

Science:

LC: Which material is the stretchiest?

In this lesson, we will be learning about elasticity. You will test a variety of household materials and will measure and compare their elasticity. You will need a piece of paper, a pencil and some household objects which will be explained in the video.

Friday 2nd October

English:

LO: To form cursive letters.

Today we will be practising our cursive handwriting. We will be forming our curly caterpillar letters (c,o,a,d,g,q) ladder letters (l,t,,I,j,u,y) zig zag letters (v, w, z, x) and robot arm letters (r, b, n, h, m, k, p). Watch the video below and then have a go at the handwriting worksheets.
