Hello Y4! Here are this week’s home learning tasks:

Monday 28th September

English:

LO: To write complex sentences.

In this lesson, we will learn how to write complex sentences. We will consider how complex sentences are constructed from main and subordinate clauses and use this knowledge to write our own.

Maths:

LO: To add using the column method.

In this lesson, we will be using the column method to add two four-digit numbers where regrouping is required in one column.

Geography:

LC: To learn how to use a map.

In this lesson we will be learning about maps. We will begin by learning about different types of maps and their purposes. Finally, we will learn how to use four and six figure grid references to find locations on a map.

Task: Complete the end of lesson quiz.

Tuesday 29th September

English:

LO: To practise and apply knowledge of suffix: -al, including test

In this lesson, we will be practising and applying knowledge of the -al suffixes.

Maths:

LO: Adding using the column method, when multiple columns require regrouping

In this lesson, we will be using the column method to add two four-digit numbers where regrouping is required in multiple columns.

Science:

LC: How do we classify the diets of animals?

In this lesson we will learn the difference between carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and classify organisms into a Venn diagram.

English:

LO: To practise using formal conjunctions.

In this lesson, we will practise how to use a range of formal conjunctions correctly in our writing.

Maths:

LO: To subtract using the column method.

In this lesson, we will be using the column method to subtract two four-digit numbers where regrouping is required in one column.

Geography: Fieldwork

LC: Can I create a sketch map of roads in my community?

In this lesson we will be learning about how to create sketch maps. We will begin by learning what a sketch map is and then look at the key steps to creating a sketch map. Finally, you will use these steps to create a sketch map of the roads in your community.

In this lesson we will be learning about surveys and questionnaires. We will begin by learning about surveys and how they can be used in fieldwork studies. Finally, we will explore questionnaires and how questions can be used to obtain a wide range of data.
