Hello Y2! Here are this week’s home learning tasks:

Monday 5th October

English:

For the next two weeks you will create your own story based on the story 'How Coyote Brought Fire to Earth'

LO: To generate ideas for a recycled story.

In this lesson, we will generate ideas to recycle the basic plot structure of the story, 'How Coyote Brought Fire to Earth' to create a completely new story of our own.

Maths:

LO: To use the 'Make ten' strategy to subtract a 1-digit number from a teen number.

In this lesson you will practise using the 'Make ten' strategy to solve subtraction equations.

Task: Complete maths lesson 1 worksheet.

History:

LC: What was the impact of the Great Fire on London?

In this lesson, we will learn about the enormous impact the fire had on the city and its population.

Tuesday 6th October

English:

LO: To tell a recycled story from memory.

In this lesson, we will learn to tell our new recycled stories from memory, using the process: Map, Step, Speak.

Maths:

LO: To use mathematical models and strategies for addition.

In this lesson you will explore mathematical problems in context and consider different solutions.

Task: complete maths lesson 2 worksheet.

Science:

LC: Which materials are absorbent?

In this lesson, we will be learning about absorbency. You will test a variety of household materials and will compare how absorbent each of them is. You will need a piece of paper, a pencil and some household objects which will be explained in the video

Wednesday 7th October

English:

LO: To build descriptive phrases

In this lesson, we will draw pictures and create poems using the senses to build descriptive phrases for key scenes in our new stories.

Maths:

LO: To use mathematical models and strategies for subtraction

In this lesson you will explore mathematical problems in context and consider different solutions.

Task: Complete maths lesson 3 worksheet.

History:

LC: What changes were made as a result of the Great Fire of London?

In this lesson, we will learn about the changes made as a response to the Great Fire of London and how this presents itself in the present.

Thursday 8th October

English:

LO: To use different sentence types.

In this lesson, we will learn about the four different sentence types and how to use them to improve our descriptive writing.

Maths:

LO: To add and subtracting multiples of ten.

We will be using our knowledge of number bonds within ten to begin deriving facts when adding and subtracting multiples of ten within 100.

Task: complete maths lesson 4 worksheet.

Science:

LC: What is the difference between raw and synthetic materials?

In this lesson, we will be learning about raw materials and synthetic materials. You will learn some examples of each of these types of materials and will complete an activity in which you need to decide whether various different materials are raw or synthetic. You will need a piece of paper and a pencil.

Friday 9th October

English:

LO: To make predictions.

In this lesson, we will make informed predictions drawing on our existing knowledge and what we already know from the text.

Maths:

LO: To add and subtract tens from a 2-digit number.

In this lesson we are going to be adding and subtracting multiples of ten by using number bonds to ten.

Task: Complete maths lesson 5 worksheet.

History:

LC: To create a timeline of the events of the Great Fire of London.

In this lesson, we will make a detailed timeline of the events of the Great Fire of London. We will use this alongside a map to practise retelling.
