Hello Y4! Here are this week’s home learning tasks:

Monday 5th October

English:

LO:  To plan an explanation text.

In this lesson, we will create a plan for our sections on harvesting and roasting. We will also use our plans to orally practise these sections.

Maths:

LO: Applying and consolidating: Column method for addition and subtraction

In this lesson, we will be consolidating our knowledge of the column method for both addition and subtraction by recapping the method, completing examples and applying our learning.

Task: Complete maths lesson 1 worksheet.

Geography:

LC: Can I create a field sketch of my community?

In this lesson we will be learning about field sketches. We will begin by learning about what field sketches are and how they can be used. Finally, you will practise producing your own field sketch of your local community.

Tuesday 6th October

English:

LO: To investigate the suffix -ic.

In this lesson, we will be investigating the -ic suffix and set spelling words to learn.

Maths:

LO: To represent one-step word problems.

In this lesson, we will be using bar models to represent addition and subtraction one-step word problems.

Task: complete maths lesson 2 worksheet.

Science:

LC: How do we construct a food chain?

In this lesson we will learn how to draw a food chain and discuss the different organisms that make up food chains.

Task: Complete Science lesson 4 worksheet.

Wednesday 7th October

English:

LO: To explore the functions of fronted adverbials.

In this lesson, we will learn the purpose for using fronted adverbials and how they can improve our writing.

Maths:

LO: To represent comparison word problems.

In this lesson, we will be using comparison bar models to represent addition and subtraction one-step word problems.

Task: Complete maths lesson 3 worksheet.

Geography:

LC: How do geographers develop an enquiry question?

In this lesson we will be learning about how geographers develop an enquiry question. We will begin by looking at the processes used to identify a question. Finally, we will use this process to identify a question that you will use for your own fieldwork study.

Thursday 8th October

English:

LO: To write an explanation text.

In this lesson, we will be using bar models to represent two-step addition and subtraction word problems.

Friday 9th October

English:

LO: To develop a rich understanding of words associated with delicious food.

In this lesson, we will introduce new vocabulary, identify word pairs and synonyms and apply the vocabulary in sentences.

Maths:

LO: Applying and consolidating using word problems and bar models.

In this lesson, we will be recapping how to use bar models to represent word problems which require addition or subtraction.

Task: Complete maths lesson 5 worksheet.

Science:

LC: How do we construct a food web?

In this lesson we will recap our knowledge of drawing food webs and then learn how to construct a food web.
