Setting Description

LO: To write a setting description based on a Kenyan Village.

Today we are going to write a setting description about Lila’s village. In your setting description  you could talk about what you could see, such as sand, cows, trees and the hot sun. In your writing you must include:

  • Alliteration
  • Simile
  • Adjectives

Here is an example to start you off ‘The gleaming sun beamed down like a bright torch onto the cowering, cows . The dry, dead desert spread as far as the eye could see.’

Task: Using the writing template, start to write your setting description on the lines.

Maths

LO: To use coins to make an amount.

Look at the sheet. There are seven coins, you can choose however many coins to make the amount shown.

Task: Circle the coins that would make the total. There may be more than one way to make the total.

Computing

We are going to be writing a script today as a television presenter. We are going to share our knowledge about Africa. In school we will be using a green screen/ chroma key. This is used in television to show something that isn't really there like when you watch a weather report, there isn't really a map behind them! Or in films such as Alice in Wonderland and Pirates of the Carribbean.

Task:to write a script of what you want to tell everyone about Africa. Here's my example:

Hello and welcome to Africa today! I'm your host Mrs Gorman and I would like to share some facts about Africa with you. There are a number of wild animals that live on the continent of Africa, like giraffes, elephants, zebras and lions. These animals live in the savanna which is a grassland. This means there are only a few trees. Some places in Africa are similar to England with facilities like stadiums, cinemas, swimming pools and play areas.

You could record yourself being a TV presenter saying your information and then upload it to Seesaw.
