Phonics
Today we are learning the 'k' sound. Watch the video below:
Phonics - k

Literacy

Last week, we practiced our rhyming skills by making witch’s soup! Explain that when a word has the same end sounds as another word, it rhymes. For example, ‘mat’ and ‘pat’. They don’t have the same beginning sounds, but both have the same end sounds.

Our focus story this week has rhymjng words. Listen to the story again and listen closely for rhyming words:

Next, play the underpants rhyming game. The alien has asked us to sort the underpants out!

All of the words on the underpants are made up of sounds we have learnt in Phonics, m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o, c, k

Have a go at reading the words using ‘Fred Talk’.

Can you match the rhyming words?

Maths
Read the maths Tales toolkit story. The problem is that the patterns on the aliens underpants have disappeared. Can you decorate a pair of underpants which could be seen in space, by the aliens?

Use various craft resources/ pencils/ pens to design different pairs of underpants. You could have a go as a family, maybe?

Can you then sort the underpants by the designs, into groups like you have been doing th is week.

OR if you do not have resources to do this, sort the pictures of the attached underpatns and sort them into groups.
