Safer Internet Day

Today is Safer Internet Day, this is an international day to highlight the importance of being safe online. This year's theme is: An internet we trust: exploring reliability in the online world. The internet has an amazing range of information and opportunities online, but how do we separate fact from fiction?

Watch this video about Detective Digiduck.

You can then create a ‘Top Tips for Searching Online’ poster using Wise_Owl’s  advice from the story or you could put Wise_Owl’s advice in to a song or poem, and record  this to create a video and upload it to Seesaw.

Watch the following clip to listen to our new story that we will be focusing on called Lila and the Secret of Rain.

Lila and the Secret of Rain - YouTube

Did you like the story? Why? Why not?

An adjective is a describing word. For example, ‘The beautiful blue sky’. The adjectives are beautiful and blue as they describe the noun which is sky. A simile is when you compare one thing to another and use the words ‘like’ or ‘as’. For example ‘He ran fast like a cheetah’ or ‘She was as brave as lion.’

Task: For the following words come up with your own sentences with adjectives and similes in. The first one has been done for you.

  • Rain – The soft rain poured like a waterfall.
  • Sky
  • Clouds
  • Moon
  • Stars
  • Lightening
  • Trees
  • Breeze
