Y1 Home Learning 19.5.20
Good Morning Year 1 and happy Tuesday! :)
I hope you're staying safe and keeping well- I can't wait until I get to see all of your smiling faces again!
Here are your home learing tasks for today:
English
Yesterday, we read Treasures in the Garden. Your task was to create a story map to sequence the events of the story. Have a little look at your map and retell it to your grown up. When you have finished, re-read the story again (I have uploaded the PowerPoint below).
For the next few days, we are going to create another adventure for Jake to go on!
Have a little think of where Jake and Holly could go… It could be to the jungle or the rainforest. It could be to the driest desert. It could even be to an imaginary kingdom like Candy Land where the rivers are made of chocolate milk and the flowers are strawberry lollipops! It is really up to you- let your imagination run wild like Jake and Holly’s did!
By the end of this week, we will build on our writing bit by bit until we have written a brand new adventure for the children to go on!!
Today, I would like you to just think about the setting of your new adventure, nothing else! You might have a few ideas in mind but just think of one! I want you to write about your setting using as many ‘wow’ words as you can. For example: “Jake and Holly went to the jungle” is a super boring sentence because it doesn’t have any adjectives in it! “Jake and Holly went to the hot, humid and noisy jungle” is a much better sentence!
Have a go and tomorrow we will write about who we meet.
Maths
Today I would like you to record the O'clock times on the clock. Remember that a clock has a minute hand (the long one) and an hour hand (the short one). Tip: The minute hand always point to 12 when it is O'clock!
