Mutual Respect and Tolerance
Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith
At Broad Oak Community Primary, we teach children to promote and celebrate all backgrounds and beliefs.
What we do to promote Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs
Through our curriculum, we learn about: Our history and heritage; Our Christian country and its place within the United Kingdom, Europe and the wider World; and The main world faiths and their place in our locality and beyond.
We follow the St. Helens agreed syllabus for Religious Education, learning about and respecting a wide range of religious beliefs.
Regular faith assemblies with our local Reverends.
Regular assemblies which celebrate religious festivals and upcoming cultural events like Black History Week
We enhance children’s understanding of their place in a culturally diverse society and by giving them opportunities to experience such diversity.
Discussions involving prejudices and prejudice – based bullying have been followed and supported by our learning in RE and PSHE.
We respect and welcome people of all faiths, cultures, abilities and backgrounds.
