Little oaks home learning 18/05/2020
Good morning everyone, we hope you are enjoying your time at home and staying safe and well!
Our story this week is 'Jack and the beanstalk', click the video below to listen to the story. Look out for the enormous giant!
Here are some fun activities you can do to enjoy learning more about our story;
Can you build an enormous beanstalk using blocks?
Draw around your foot, is it big? Draw around another family members foot, is it bigger than yours? Who has the biggest feet in your house? Are they as big as the giants? (Attach pic)
You could plant a bean to grow your own beanstalk; put some soil into a pot and add a bean/seed. Don't forget to water it everyday and put it in the sun to grow! 🌱 Did you know you can regrow many vegetables from the bits that are normally chopped off?
💧 Try it out by placing the root in a shallow dish of water and see what happens!
🥕 Try with: Lettuce, Green Onion, Celery, Carrots, Leeks etc.
If you go for a walk have a look at the trees, who can find the tallest tree?
You could collect some leaves on your walk and make your own beanstalk. Or use crayons/chalk/paints to draw your own beanstalk.
Counting beans; place 5 beans/buttons, coins (or anything else you can find) count the beans touching each one for each number.
Sing 5 magic beans (to the tune of 10 green bottles) take one bean away each time.
'Five magic beans jumping in the mud, five magic beans jumping in the mud and if one greedy giant should gobble one up, there'd be four magic beans jumping in the mud....'
Useful language for this week:
Giant, enormous, stretch, leaves, tall short, beans.
Enjoy!
