Week of 15.6.15
We have had an excellent week of learning in 2H!
In English we have started reading the stories of Katie Morag. We have really enjoyed listening to all the adventures that she gets up to on the Island of Struay, which is near Scotland. We have retold the stories in our own way and thought of questions that we would like to ask the different characters.
In Maths we have been learning about 3D shapes. We have been using 3D shape vocabulary to describe the shapes, such as faces (the flat sides), vertices (the corners) and edges. We also looked at nets and guessed which 3D shapes they made. We then made our own 3D shape from a net. Have a look at the pictures to see how we did this!
For our topic work,we are learning about Great Britain. We discussed the most famous people from our country. We had a look at some art work by Andy Warhol where the artist has painted a picture of the Queen. We then created our own versions of this, which look fantastic! Have a look at the photo to see the bright and colourful new classroom display of all our artwork.
As well as all this fantastic learning, we had a special visitor come to 2H on Friday. Mr Sherwood taught us how to play the drums! We had such a fun time practising playing a rhythm and working as a team to create a piece of music. Have a look at our photos to see how we got on! Mr Sherwood will be teaching us drumming every Friday afternoon so we are looking forward to what the next lesson brings!
