Let’s recap what we did last week. We investigated vocabulary, thought about what type of personality Mara had and how she looked as well as reading a character description and highlighting key points. So this week, you are definitely ready to start writing. We are going to split the writing into 2 paragraphs – appearance and personality.
Today you will be describing Mara’s physical appearance.
Try and include:
Noun phrases e.g. long, brown hair
Fronted adverbials e.g. On her head,
Conjunctions e.g. so, because
Similes e.g. Mara’s glasses were as round as dinner plates

Maths
This week your maths activities will focus on multiplication! We will be revisiting grid method this week before moving on to recapping short multiplication next week. In order to complete multiplication questions accurately e.g. 432 x 8, you need to have a solid knowledge of your times tables. Today and tomorrow, we are going to spend some time revisiting our times tables.
Today, I would like you to practice your times tables on Hit The Button. At this stage in the year, you should be familiar with all of your times tables from 1 x 1 to 12 x 12, so select the ‘mixed’ option when you click Times Tables.

I would then like you to answer these times tables questions in your Maths book. Either ask your grown up to mark your questions or use a calculator to mark them. If you notice that you are struggling with a particular times table e.g. your 8s, go back and practice that times table on Hit The Button.
