Y4 Home Learning Tasks 07.05.20

Happy Thursday Y4!
Well done for being so enthusiastic and trying so hard with your home learning. Also a big thank you to your fantastic grown ups who are doing such a brilliant job being your 'at home teachers' throughout this time.

Maths

Good Morning Year 4. This week your maths activities will focus on multiplication! We will be revisiting grid method this week before moving on to recapping short multiplication next week. Today, we will revisit multiplying a three digit number by a one digit number e.g. 571 x 4. Watch the following YouTube video to remind yourself how to use the grid method correctly. (In this video, the teacher refers to ‘ones’ as ‘units.’

Now have a go at the attached worksheets and try to answer the 3 digit by 1 digit multiplication questions using the grid method. The answers to the questions are provided on the last page so that you can mark your own!

English

Fantastic work over the last two days everybody – you should all be extremely proud of yourselves! The task today is to edit your work. If you have a purple pen that would be excellent, however, if not, just a different coloured pen to what you have written in is fine.

Ask a family member if they will help you to read through your work and identify if there:

Are any spelling mistakes?

Is any missing punctuation? (Capital letters for places, beginnings of sentences and proper nouns, full stops, inverted commas etc)

Are any words missing out of sentences?

Have you used paragraphs?

Could you improve your writing by thinking of synonyms for ‘boring’ words like big or small?

Have fun!
