What is happening in this picture? What is the farmer trying to do? Today I would like you to try to use ‘but’ in your sentence. Have a look at mine!

The farmer tried to pull the enormous turnip out of the ground but it was too big for him.

He pulled and pulled and pulled but he was not strong enough to pull the enormous turnip out of the muddy ground.

2. Mark had 12 footballs in his garden. He kicked 5 over the fence by accident. How many does Mark have left now?

3. Clara had 15 pencils in her pencil case. 4 of them were broken so she put them in the bin. How many pencils does she have left?
