Year 2 home learning 4.5.20
Good Morning, it's Monday again! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! This week is a special week as Friday is a bank holiday and we will be celebrating and remembering VE day.
Here are today’s tasks:
English
Today we are going to refresh your phonics knowledge and apply it when writing sentences with unfamiliar words. Click on the link:

Activity one: Hunting for sounds
Pick six sounds that were covered in the 'Simple Sounds' mini game. Then go on a hunt around your home or garden and try finding objects that contain the same sound. Make a list of the items you find for each sound.
Activity two: Let's explore the UK- Write down the names of the countries that make up the UK. Using your phonics knowledge, try writing down any words that were in the video that you hadn't heard before. Then using the list of new words you've created, quiz the people around you to see if they know the words.
Activity three: Write two sentences for each country of the UK, explaining what you heard and saw in the video. If you can, try and use the new words you listed in the activity above.
Maths
This week we are going to look at shape. We are going to start with 2D shapes, then 3D shapes and finish the week with some problem solving. Today we are going to look at 2D shapes.
Using items from around your house (straws, sticks, pencils, pens, crayons) and then can you create the following 2D shapes? Take some pictures and create a scrapbook on the school website. Alternatively draw pictures of what you have created in your maths book.

We hope that you enjoyed Pyjamarama day on Friday and had some time reading in your pyjamas, I know I did!
