Year 5 Learning from Home- Wednesday 13th May

Good morning Year 5!

Hope you are all keeping safe and smiling, I miss you all lots!

Here are your tasks for today :)

English

I would like you to use the English Activity Sheet to prompt you in writing your very own space story! I know your imagination is the BEST, so I can't wait to read your stories! Make it as creative as possible, and remember to use your spelling, punctuation and grammar correctly. You could also list some of your year 5 writing skills which we have looked at in class (semi-colons, relative clauses, embedded relative clauses and modal verbs etc), and try to add these into your writing, if you would like to challenge yourself further.

Maths

First, complete your 5 in 5 activity. Then, have a look at the maths word problems attached. Following on from yesterdays worksheet of adding decimals, you can now use these skills to work out the word problems on the worksheet. Once you have read the question, you will need to decide whether it is asking you to add the decimals or subtract them. Once you have worked out which operation (add or subtract) is needed to answer the quesion, you will set it out exactly as you did yesterday. Remember: the decimal points must ALWAYS line up in both addition AND subtraction!
