VE Day - Friday 8th May 2020

VE Day

Friday 8th May is a really important day for the whole of Europe. It is the day that Germany surrended to the European allies and World War 2 came to an end.   Everyone in Britain waited anxiously to hear Prime Minister Winston Churchill declare that the country was no longer at war and had huge street parties to celebrate the momentous day. On Friday 8th May, it is the 75th Anniversary since Victory in Europe day in 1945.

Just because we are all at home, doesn't mean that we can't celebrate and commemorate the day. There are lots of different things you can do, for example,

- Decorate your windows or porch with bunting decorated in red, white and blue

- Have a tea party at home or in the garden

- At 3pm on Friday, stand at your front door and raise a glass to make the following toast "To those who gave so much, we thank you."

There are lots more ideas on the St. Helens Council website if you visit the following link:

We would love to see photos of your VE Day celebrations, so post them on our school scrapbooks for everyone to enjoy.

Have a fabulous VE Day!
